Abstract

1288314 Protecting floors, roofs D F R NEWMAN 19 April 1971 [25 March 1970 22 Oct 1970] 14446/70 and 50263/70 Headings B2E [Also in Divisions B5 C3 and El] A floor, roof or road base has a protective layer formed thereon, consisting of a composition comprising epoxy resinous material having an embedded sheet or strip of elastomeric material. The layer is preferably formed by applying a first coat of the composition, then the sheet or strip, then the second coat. The elastomeric sheet or strip may be of butyl rubber material with one or both faces only partially cured, and made up, e.g. as a laminate. The composition may comprise coal tar pitch, a polyepoxide possessing an average more than one epoxy group per molecule, a mineral filler and a compound which is reactive with the epoxy groups and which possesses more than one amino hydrogen atom per molecule. The protective layer is preferably used over the joints between panels which are made up of reinforced epoxy resinous materials. Stone chippings may be applied on top of the protective layer.
