Abstract

1287798 Photo-sensitive materials KALLE A G 7 Nov 1969 [9 Dec 1968] 54709/69 Heading G2C Light-sensitive materials are produced by coating a support with a solution of a quinone diozide and a resin in dimethyl formamide, dimethyl sulphoxide, 2, 2,3,3-tetrafluoropropenol or 2,2,3,3,4,4,5, 5-octefluoropentanol, which solution contains at least 1À9 per cent by weight of the quinone diazide and 2À5-100 per cent by weight, based on the weight of the diazide, of the resin, the total weight of diazide and resin being at least 2À1 per cent by weight of the solution and thickness of the dried coating is between 0À4 and 3 microns. Specified resins are movolaks, resoles, polyurethanes, epoxy resins, alkyld resins, polyacrylic acid, polyvinyl acetate, cellulose acetate, styrene/maleic acid copolymer and resins based on maleic acid. The support may be metal, polymeric or a laminate of paper and aluminium and the polymeric support may be subbed with a hardened polyvinyl alcohol layer before applying the light-sensitive layer. The material may be used to produce continuous tone printing plates.
