Abstract

1287671 Silver salts BATTELLE DEVELOPMENT CORP 7 July 1970 [25 July 1969] 32824/70 Heading C1A [Also in Division C7] Silver is recovered from its mixture with organic materials by pyrolysis to form a silvercarbon-ash mixture (see Divisions C6-C7) and this mixture is burnt in air to remove the carbon. In an example the silver-ash residue was leached in nitric acid and boiled, and the solution and solid made alkaline with ammonium hydroxide. The silver was precipitated as silver sulphide and then converted to nitrate by boiling with nitric acid.
