1287449 Pressure sensing device, liquid level control WESTINGHOUSE BRAKE & SIGNAL CO Ltd 22 July 1970 [23 July 1969] 37060/69 Headings G1H and G1L A device which may be used for example in controlling the amount of grannular material fed to a container comprises a body 10, to be secured against a wall 1 of the container, and a diaphragm 11 enclosing a chamber 12 having filtered vents 13 which permit the passage of fluid only between the chamber and the rest of the container. The ambient fluid pressure within the container and chamber is equalized through the vents 13 but since these do not permit material to flow therethrough the pressure of material on the diaphragm 11 causes the thrust rod 14 to move axially along the bore 16 and hence effect control through a throttle 18 of a fluid pressure valve 19. The thrust member 14 may be supported by a spider or a further diaphragm 17 which is exposed to atmospheric pressure.
