Abstract
1286686 Polytetrafluoroethylene dispersions FARBWERKE HOECHST AG 16 Dec 1969 [16 Dec 1968] 61280/69 Heading C3P [Also in Division D1] A dispersion comprising (a) from 10% to 30% by weight of polytetrafluoroethylene; (b) from 10% to 30% by weight of an electrically conductive pigment; (c) from 2% to 20% by weight of a dispersing agent capable of dispersing component (a) and component (b) in component (d); (d) from 5% to 50% by weight of a di- or polyhydric alcohol or a mixture of di- or polyhydric alcohols; and (e) from 0% to 70% by weight of water may be prepared by mixing (A) an initial polytetrafluoroethyiene dispersion whose liquid phase comprises water or one or more di- or polyhydric alcohols or a mixture of water and such alcohols and a first dispersing agent and (B) a paste of the pigment and water or one or more di- or polyhydric alcohols or a mixture of water and such alcohols and, optionally, a dispersing agent which may be the same as the first dispersing agent or may be different. In the examples the dispersions contain graphite dust, carbon black, ethylene glycol, water, sodium pentachlorophenolate, condensation product of nonyl phenol and ethylene glycol, polytetrafluoroethyiene emulsion, condensation product of nonyl phenol and ethylene oxide, disodium sulphonate of dinaphthyl-methane, sulphate waste liquor powder, hexanetriol and sorbitol.
