1286270 Brushgear of electric machines ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 27 Nov 1969 [28 Nov 1968] 57995/69 Heading H2A In an electric machine, e.g. a windscreen wiper motor, having an armature 22, a commutator 23 engaged by brushes 24 ... 26 disposed radially of the armature axis, and at right angles to such axis a plastics mounting plate 27 having formed thereon brush receiving and guiding housings 40, the housing sides 41 remote from the plane of a portion 31 of the plate define an opening through which the brushes can be inserted in a direction parallel with the axis and have adjacent the opening resilient bendable ribs 44 which retain a plate 49 which closes, the opening after brush insertion. The plates 49 are retained by lugs 51 engaging housing wall recesses 52 and have angled end portions 50 against which abut brush springs 48. Armature shaft end play is adjusted by a screw 60 in a bracket 58. Excitation is by a transverse permanent magnet 18 against the end faces of which are clamped two polepieces 19, and a metal cover 62 is retained by a spring 61.
