Abstract

1286255 Matched set of golf clubs DUNLOP HOLDINGS Ltd 6 Oct 1969 [4 Oct 1968] 47175/68 Heading A6D A matched set of golf clubs is characterised in that the flexural rigidity of the shaft of any iron or any wood is not greater than that of the shaft of any longer iron or wood respectively. The values of the flexural rigidity may decrease progressively from the longest to the shortest shaft, this being achieved in a stepped metal tubular shaft by the use of different wall thicknesses for the various steps or an increase in the length of the step nearest the club head, and in an unstepped shaft by tapering the shafts at the head end, the untapered portion becoming shorter. The woods may have a common frequency of vibration, and also the irons may have a common frequency of vibration, this being different from that of the woods.
