Abstract

1286076 Insulated storage container MOTHERWELL BRIDGE ENG Ltd 23 Oct 1969 [24 Sept 1968] 45364/68 Heading F2X The wall 12 of a storage vessel is surrounded by an outer wall 14 and the space there between is filled with expanded perlite. A base made up of a plurality of structures 17 each formed by rectangular aerated concrete bricks stacked on top of one another with the lengths of alternate layers at right angles and surrounded by expanded perlite and topped by a platform formed by two layers of bricks supports the base of the vessel. A layer 19 of loose granular lubricant is placed between the base and platform. The base is surrounded by two walls 20 of concrete bricks and metal bands 24 reinforce the walls. Spacing bricks 25 are placed between the outer wall 20 and the wall 14 and the space between bricks 25 is filled with expanded perlite. The bricks may be coated to prevent ingress of moisture. Alternate forms of structures are hollow rectangular stacks of bricks, metal reinforced aerated concrete sections and the brick may be tapered at each end in the first form of structure.
