Abstract

1285794 Bearing finings SKF KUGELLAGERFABRIKEN GmbH 30 Jan 1970 [1 Feb 1969] 4658/70 Heading E2F A liquified, low-friction material which shrinks on setting is injected in two stages between inner and outer bearing members 1 and 2 to thereby produce a defined slack in the complete bearing, the steps comprising initially displacing the inner member an amount b to the right and filling the right hand half of the gap between said members with said material, 8, and, secondly, after said material has set, displacing the member 26 to the left and repeating the filling process. During the first step, the inner member may be replaced by a mandrel 9 having a cylindrical portion 10 equal in diameter to that of the outer member 2 and an end portion 11 corresponding approximately in shape with the inner member; the mandrel is replaced by the inner member for the second step. The portion 11 may be elliptically shaped to allow for differing shrinkage in the setting of the material to thereby reproduce the spherical shape of the inner member. The union between the two parts of the mandrel is castellated.
