1285628 Metal powder compaction press W BUSSMAN K G MASCHINENFABRIK and MANNESMANN PULVERMETALL GmbH 5 Sept 1969 [9 Sept 1968] 44009/69 Heading B5A In an hydraulic press for compression moulding ratchet wheels, star wheels, or disc cams from metal powder, the compression is effected by a downwardly displaceable upper plunger within a cavity defined by a stationary lower plunger 5a, Fig. 1, and a surrounding die within a die table which is adjustably displaceable by a ram 3, between a lower ejection position level with or just below the lower plunger 5a, and an upper filling and moulding position when the die is filled by a filling shoe 19, Fig. 3, connected by a tube 18 to a hopper 17 and which is reciprocated by an hydraulic piston-cylinder unit 20, between a filling position over the die table and a retracted position on a supporting tube 21 which is connected at 23 to the actuating ram 3 of the die table, via a supporting column 25 which is threadedly engaged within a threaded sleeve 24 and provided with a hand wheel 26 for height adjustment relative to the die table 5. The stroke of the die table 5 is adjusted from an indicating scale 27, the upper and lower parts 28, 29 whereof indicate the filling and ejection positions which are set by threaded spindles actuated, via bevel wheels, from hand wheels 30, 31, or cranks. Hydraulic actuating pressure is relieved from the actuating ram of the upper plunger at the end of its compression stroke, which is limited by two stops replaceably mounted, for surface grinding thereof, to a threaded sleeve (15), Fig. 2 (not printed), for joint adjustment each by a threaded spindle (14) engaging within the threaded sleeve (15) and which spindles (14) are jointly rotated from worm gearing (10, 11) on a shaft (8), manually rotated at a crank (9).
