Machines for making.-In a machine for spinning wire rope &c., comprising rotary stranding- elements travelling round a rotary spinning- element of higher order, the stranding-elements, shown as comprising a core spool 45<1>, wire spools 17, a rotating spindie 13 carrying the wire spools, and a stationary mouthpiece 23, are carried by radial arms 4, 5 on the rotating spindle 3 of the rope-laying element of higher order, and the lower arms 5 are supported by rollers 6 running on a circular track 2. The spools 17 are mounted in forks on shafts 16 arranged in two circular series on the upper face of a hollow extension 14 on the spindle 13. Rotation of the spools 17 relatively to the spindles 13 is effected by means of gearwheels 18, on the lower ends of the shafts 16, intermeshing with each other and with a central gear-wheel 19 on a fixed shaft 13', which extends through the upper part of the spindle 13 and is attached to the arm 4. The spindles 13 are rotated by means of reversible bevel-gear 12, 11, 9, 7, from the rollers 6. The wires from the spools 17 are guided near the mouthpieces 23 through holes 21 in flanges on the spindles 13 and other holes in disks 22 on the spindles. The laying-element includes the spindle 3, a stationary mouthpiece 29, and a core spool 45. The spindle 3 is driven from the main shaft 42 by bevel gear 43, 44. The strands are led over tension wheels 24, 25 and through holes in a disk 26 on the spindle 3 to the mouthpiece 29. The rope passes over a feed-wheel 30, tension wheel 31, and guide-wheel 46 to a winding-drum 47; the feed-wheel 30 is driven from the shaft 42 through an intermediate shaft 39 and interchangeable gear 36, 34, 33.
