1285300 Winch drives UHER PATENT AG 30 Dec 1970 [30 Dec 1969 20 April 1970] 61865/70 Heading B8B A chain winding apparatus comprises a main drive shaft 3 on which a freely rotatable chain pulley 7 is mounted, and which is selectively drivingly coupled to the shaft 3 through a cone clutch 9, and a primary shaft 2 from which the shaft 3 may be manually driven, the shaft 3 being alternatively motor driven from a power worm 27. The cone 9 of the clutch which is rotatably coupled to the shaft 3, is slidable therealong for engagement with the pulley 7 under the control of a sleeve 12 threadedly engageable with a threaded section 11 on the shaft 3, the sleeve being selectively rotatably locked by a pawl and ratchet arrangement 15, 31 to facilitate axial movement of the sleeve relative to the shaft 3. The ratchet wheel 31 is frictionally coupled to the sleeve 12 and slips once the cone clutch is engaged. The pawl 15, mounted on the casing 1 is either manually or remotely electromagnetically controlled and may be disengaged from the ratchet wheel by a cam on the sleeve 12 after a predetermined relative rotation between the sleeve and ratchet wheel. A spur wheel 6 is slidable on the shaft 3 to transmit drive to the shaft 3 from either the worm-wheel 28 or manually operated gears 5, 25. The revolutions of the wheel 7 are counted by a magnet 48 on the wheel and an electro counting mechanism including an amplifier 49 on the easing 1. In the embodiment of Fig. 1 (not shown) the primary shaft is normally braked under spring pressure and is unlocked by pushing the operating handle into its operating plane prior to turning.
