Abstract
1285227 Multiple switches SWF-SPEZIALFABRIK FUER AUTOZUBEHOER GUSTAV RAU GmbH 6 April 1970 [5 April 1969] 16170/70 Heading HlN A switching device particularly for controlling the windscreen wipers of a vehicle has two independent operating members 15, 18 operating contacts associated with a printed circuit board 16. A push-on-push-off button 15 moves a contact (38, Fig. 3, not shown) to bridge fixed contacts 43, 44 to start the apparatus; it also energizes a lamp 36 visible through the hollow translucent stem 35 of the button. A rotary knob 18 is coupled to a resilient arcuate member 20 with indexing indentations 24 co-operating with a pin 25. Projections 30, 48 cause the knob 18 to be reset to the position shown when button 15 is moved to the off position so that when the apparatus is switched on it always starts at a slow speed. In this position a cam part 26 holds a blade contact 27 in engagement with contact 41. On rotation clockwise a higher speed is selected by changing over contact 27 to contact 40. On further clockwise rotation a wiping blade contact 22 carried by knob 18 moves over contacts formed on the printed circuit board to select various intermittent wipe conditions under the control of a multivibrator circuit (not shown) built on the printed circuit board. Connections to the switch are by plug contacts 40. The casing is disguised as a double push button unit which the device is intended to replace.
