1285220 Road vehicle coupiings STUTTAFORD & CO (RHODESIA) (PRIVATE) Ltd 26 Nov 1969 [28 Nov 1968] 57867/69 Heading B7T A coupling between a tandem pair of road vehicles comprises a member 10 rigidly connected at one end by a pair of pins 11 to the rear of the leading vehicle 9 and at its other end by a single pin 14 to a draw bar 26 extending forwardly from a bogey 19 forming the front axle assembly of the trailing vehicle 32, the bogey 19 mounting a fifth wheel 20 which is engaged by king pin 21 of the vehicle 32 by which the bogey is steerable with respect to the vehicle 32, the effective length of member 10 being at least equal to the effective length of draw bar 26. The fifth wheel plate extends rearwardly between a pair of parallel horizontal sheaves 25 to prevent jack-knifing about both horizontal and vertical axes.
