Abstract
1285061 Masking device R T MULLIN 21 Aug 1969 [6 Sept 1968] 41871/69 Heading A3V [Also in Division A5] A masking device for exposing the fingernails of a wearer while protecting the surrounding skin and cuticle during nail polishing. comprises a finger stall of resiliently deformable material with a suitably shaped aperture therein such that when the stall is put on a finger and stretched the aperture enlarges to fit around the periphery 26 and 27 of the fingernail and the stall is held in place in its stretched condition by a rib 22 located at or past the knuckle 25. The stall may be as shown or it may form the finger stall members of an integral glove having separate stalls for the fingers and thumb. In an alternative embodiment a strip of elastomeric adhesive tape may be provided with an aperture adjacent one of its ends for the same purpose. Suitable materials for the separate finger stall or for the glove embodiment include rubber latex and plastics. The aperture for the fingernail may be elongated or circular.
