Abstract

1284666 Projectile and launcher; rocket launcher RAUFOSS AMMUNISJONSFAB RIKKER AS 4 Sept 1970 42485/70 Headings F3A and F3C [Also in Division F1] A projectile for use in a sub-calibre, antitank, training weapon comprises a plurality of propellant sticks 4 arranged around a rod 2, and an igniter 10 for the propellant sticks contained within a tail piece 3 which serves both as a nozzle and a stabilizing fin. A central hub 7 is connected to a cylindrical part 6 of the tail-piece by means of an apertured web 8 and contains a tracer charge. The igniting composiposition 16 extends along a flexible tube 14 to a primer 15. In use, the projectile is placed in a sub-calibre launching tube 21 in the weapon 20, and the primer 15 is located within percussion firing means 23. Whilst the projectile is within the launching tube the wall of the tube serves as a rocket motor casing and the propellant gases from the ignited sticks 4 pass rearwardy through the tail piece 3 once sufficient pressure has been developed to eject the spent igniter 10 therefrom.
