Abstract

1284646 Gelatine dispersion RANK XEROX Ltd 2 Feb 1970 [4 Feb 1969] 4900/70 Heading C3H [Also in Division G2] In the production of a printing plate by deposition of gelatine toner from a liquid developer agent on to an electrostatic latent image, the agent is produced by cooling a 1-30% aqueous solution of gelatine to produce a gel, the gel is pulverized in 1-100 parts (per part of gel) of a solvent which is miscible with water but is a non-solvent for gelatine to produce a dispersion of gelatine particles, the gelatine particles are separated from the solvent, and the separated particles are dispersed in a carrier liquid in a concentration of 0À001-5%. The solvent may be methyl or ethyl alcohol or dimethyl or methylethyl ketone. The particles may be washed with further solvent before forming the dispersion. The carrier liquid may be cyclohexane, kerosene, gasoline, iso-octane, heptane, or hexane. The agent may also contain soybean oil as dispersant and rosin-modified phenolformaldehyde resin as fixing agent.
