Abstract
1283951 Drawing DENGENSHA SEISAKUSHO KK 14 Nov 1969 24642/69 Heading B3P A tube is formed by passing a strip 5 between a base-plate 4 and a guide-plate 8, which are convergently tapered in the direction of advance of the strip, so that as the strip passes between the plates 4 and 8 the lateral edge parts of the strip are progressively exposed and are bent by surfaces lc and 1d of a member 1. In another embodiment (Fig. 6) the frictional forces are reduced by replacing the member 1 by two inclined rows of rollers and the curvature of the tube can be varied by yieldably supporting the base-plate on an air cylinder and adjusting the vertical position of the guide plate. Similarly, the rollers can be mounted on blocks which are movable in the transverse direction. The rollers can also be mounted eccentrically so that the parts of the strip which contact the rollers receive a percussive force. In another embodiment, Fig. 11, the rows of rollers and base-plate are replaced by an elastic belt 112 movably mounted on a base 111 and having an upper run 112a which travels along the upper surface of the base in synchronism with the strip under the guidance of a roller R. The strip is subjected to bending forces by a guide plate 14 and to the resulting deformation of the upper run of belt 112. In another embodiment, Fig. 15, the strip is fed between a guide plate, having rollers on the strip engaging surface, and guides 122 mounted on a conveyer 121 and having slides 123. As the strip advances the slides 123 are cammed so that they pass along the edge parts of the guide plate during the passage past the latter.
