Abstract
1282985 Winding apparatus ROCLA CONCRETE PIPES Ltd 15 Sept 1970 [17 Sept 1969] 44032/70 Heading B8B An apparatus for increasing the frictional grip of a wire 29 passing around a rotatable pulley 21, comprises sets of rollers 33 opposed diametrically of the pulley 21 and movable radially inwardly thereof to apply a force to the wire on the pulley. Pairs of rollers 33 are mounted on carriers 34 pivoted to levers 42, the latter being adjustably pivoted at one end 38 to the apparatus frame 23, and their other ends being attached to a power application 43 which draws these ends together to apply the rollers to the wire. The application comprises a pneumatically actuated plunger 49 engageable with one lever end and slidable along a bar 46 which at its remote end adjustably and pivotally receives the other lever end. The pulley 21 comprises either a single groove drum for receiving a single lap of wire engageable by flat or concave rollers 33, or a drum having a conical surface to receive a plurality of coils of wire between end flanges, the rollers which are flat or tapered engaging only the largest diameter coil of wire. In the embodiment of Fig. 1 (not shown), the levers carrying the rollers at one end have their other ends coupled to an applicator which causes pivoting movement about a bar adjustably connecting the two levers intermediate their ends.
