Abstract
1282767 Nuclear fuel KERNFORSCHUNG GES FUR mbH 18 Nov 1969 [20 Nov 1968] 56350/69 Heading G6C [Also in Division C7] Composition for forming nuclear reactor fuels consists of a homogeneous dispersion of up to 35% by volume UAlx, wherein x does not exceed 3, in an Al matrix which forms the balance. The compositions may be made by mixing pure UALx and Al powders, pressing the mixture (e.g. by unilateral or bilateral stamp cold pressing, isostatic hot or cold pressing or impulse compaction) and if necessary sintering with hot rolling and cold rolling for levelling. The production of clad plate-type fuel elements and their insertion into picture frames is referred to. The preparation of the UAlx by melting is also described.
