Abstract

1282382 Consolidating scrap; presses MURARO COSTR MECC and G BUSI 10 March 1970 [13 March 1969] 11534/70 Heading B3H A horizontal scrap consolidating press comprises a movable cylinder 2 with a movable piston inside an elongated chamber 1 and a set of blocking keys 6-10 selectively engageable with either the side wall of the cylinder or a base element 4 on the piston rod 3. In operation the chamber is loaded with scrap and the cylinder is moved to compress the scrap while the element is locked in position. At the end of the stroke the cylinder is locked and the piston retracted, Fig. 4 (not shown). This procedure is then repeated. The blocking keys may be operated hydraulically or mechanically. The piston 11, Fig. 9, has a central bore 20 in which a piston 12 connected to the cylinder 2 is slidable. The hydraulic fluid is selectively introduced through ducts 14, 16, 18 in the piston rod. The press is used for light scrap metal.
