1282110 Clutch-brake combinations SPETSIALNOE KONSTRUKTORSKOE BJURO TYAZHELYKH TSVETNYKH METALLOV PRI GINTSVETMETE and BALKHASHSKY ORDENA LENINA GORNO-METALLURGICHESKY KOMBINAT IMENI 19 Aug 1969 41343/69 Heading F2L In a clutch-brake unit for a hoist wherein a driven clutch-brake sleeve 3 is axially slidable into tooth engagement with a brake member 2 or clutch member 1, the clutch member 1 is axially slidable on a driving shaft 6 and urged by a spring 10 towards the sleeve 3 to provide an axial distance between the clutch and brake members 1, 2 which is less than the length of the sleeve 3 and thus prevents the driven clutchbrake sleeve 3 from disengaging both the clutch and brake members 1, 2 and the load falling under its own weight. The ends of the teeth of the clutch member 1 are bevelled to permit the clutch member to ratchet over the teeth on the sleeve 3 whilst the sleeve also engages the brake member 2. The sleeve 3 is moved axially by an hydraulic servo 5. During leftward axial movement of the sleeve 3 from the brake engaged position the teeth on the sleeve 3 engage the clutch member 1 before the brake teeth are disengaged whereupon the clutch member 1 ratchets over the teeth on the sleeve 3 until the brake teeth are fully disengaged whereafter the clutch member 1 drives the sleeve 3.
