Abstract
1,267,901. Winding drum drive arrangements. ANDERSON MAVOR Ltd. 31 Dec., 1970 [15 Jan., 1970], No. 2058/70. Heading B8B. [Also in Division F2] A haulage mechanism for a mining machine comprises an hydraulically operated driving clutch 1, which through a gear selector 2, a safety cut-out mechanism 6 and reduction gearing 12, drives a haulage chain-engaging drum 13, the mechanism 6 comprising a friction clutch which upon slipping, applies a brake 9 to the reduction gearing or causes disengagement of the driving clutch 1. The cut-out mechanism 6 comprises a driving member driven by the output shaft 5 of the gearing 2, and a driven member driving the mechanism output shaft 10 which is the drive input for the reduction gearing 12, the driving and driven members being coupled through a friction clutch. With slipping of this clutch, a cam on the driving member displaces spring biased levers which release a spring loaded sleeve 7 slidable on the shaft 10, causing actuation of an hydraulic valve control lever 24. The latter causes pressurization of a piston device 42 whereby a control 40 for the driving clutch 1 is unlatched and returned to its biased "off" position causing exhausting of a pressure line A, which disengages the clutch 1 and applies the brake 9 to the shaft 10, and pressurization of the line B which causes a resetting of the sleeve member 7 and actuation of an anti-spin brake 41 for the gearing 2. In another embodiment a centrifugal brake is provided on the cut-out mechanism output shaft and a torsionally resilient coupling is provided between the driving and driven members of the cut-out mechanism.
