Abstract
1282089 Test reagent for uric acid MILES LABORATORIES Inc 28 Oct 1970 51276/70 Heading B1X A composition for the detection of uric acid e.g. in blood serum or urine comprises a ferric salt, a persulphate, e.g. ammonium, and either 2, 4, 6-tri (2-pyridyl)-1, 3, 5-triazine or 2, 2':6', 2"-terpyridyl in a buffered acidic medium. The ferric salt may be a chloride, sulphate, alum, bromide, fluoride, nitrate, phosphate, acetate or oxalate. The buffer may be glycine-hydrochloric acid, glycine-acetic acid, sodium acetate, acetic acid, glycine sulphamic acid or sodium succinatesuccinic acid mixtures. The composition may be impregnated in solution into a carrier and dried or, alternatively a finely divided dry intimate mixture of the ingredients can be adhered to the carrier. The carrier may be filter paper, wood strips, synthetic plastics or woven or non-woven fabric. The amount of uric acid may be quantitatively determined by the intensity of the colour reaction, which is preferably carried out in the dark.
