Abstract

128,178. Bore, J. W., and Bore, H. A. May 15, 1919. Untwisting ropes &c.-Relates to the untwisting and teasing of curled hair or other fibres in the form of ropes &c. for upholstery and other purposes, in machines of the type wherein the rope is passed through a nozzle having a rightangled passage and rotating so as to lash the untwisted fibres against a teasing-device. The teasing-device consists of stationary spikes projecting radially from the inside of a hood 28 within which the nozzle 12 rotates, the hood being so shaped as to direct the fibres against the spikes. The feed-rollers 17, 18 are driven through worm gearing and are pressed together by weights 25 carried by rods 26. The nozzle 12, which may be roughened at 15, is attached to one end of a shaft 9 driven by pulleys 10<x>, 11<x> and is provided with a counterweight 14. The hood 28 is mounted adjustably to move the spikes towards or away from the nozzle, and is open at its end 36 for the discharge of the material. The bracket 16 carrying the feed-rollers is divided centrally.
