Abstract
1280808 Ferroelectric ceramics UNITED STATES ATOMIC ENERGY COMMISSION 19 Nov 1970 [17 Dec 1969] 55001/70 Heading C1J A ferroelectric ceramic falling within the area ABCD is made by hot pressing at 800-1300 C. and 500-20,000 p.s.i. for 1 to 64 hours and has an electrically variable birefringence and an optical transmittance throughout the visible spectrum of about 100% after correction for reflection losses with material about 0À25 mm. thick. Lead oxide, zirconia, titania and lanthanum powders are mixed, calcined, the calcine ball milled and the dry powder is hot pressed, sliced into wafers, polished, annealed and polarized.
