Abstract
1280503 Making pumps; jointing WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC CORP 22 Aug 1969 [20 Sept 1968] 42016/69 Headings B3A B3J and B3V [Also in Divisions F1 and F2] A brittle shaft 105 of the rotor 64 of a moltenmetal pump, is coupled to a drive shaft 13 via a member 116. During manufacture, after assembly of the member 116 into the shaft bore 121, wall portions 120A are expanded by a suitable tool to tightly engage the surface of bore 121, and a pin 122 is inserted, the slots 120 allowing relaxation of wall portions 120A during high temperature operation thereby avoiding undue stressing of shaft 105. The upper end of member 116 is thereafter machined so as to be concentric with the rotor.
