Abstract

1280480 Stacking machines NORTH AMERICAN ROCKWELL CORP 16 Dec 1969 [17 Feb 1969] 61233/69 Heading B8C In a stacking machine, the two ends articles P are delivered between the blades 44 of two paddle wheels 41 by means of a conveyer, and the paddle wheels 41 are stepwise rotated so that a first article is lifted by the blades 44 and is ultimately released by the blades to drop on to a second article which has been lifted by succeeding blades 44. The paddle wheels 41 are driven via ratchets 46, 47 by pawls 52, 53 carried by rocker arms 50, 51 connected to further rocker arms 56, 57 which carry rollers 60, 61 engaging a motor driven cam 54. The conveyer comprises two belts 12 against which the articles are pressed by a driven roller (23, Fig. 1). A plunger may be provided to lift the stacked articles in a container. The cam 54 is driven by a constantly running motor through a conventional single rotation clutch brake assembly controlled by a switch 66 operated by an article P at the end of the conveyer 41. The clutch remains energized when switch 66 opens by the closure of a switch 74 by the cam 54.
