Abstract

1280245 Door operating device INPAT ESTABLISHMENT 16 Oct 1970 [17 Oct 1969] 49298/70 Heading E2M A device for operating horizontally sliding doors comprises (a) a pantograph with a plurality of articulated arms having a first articulation securable to a fixed structure, a second articulation pivotally attachable to the upper edge of a door and at least a pair of free articulations, (b) a power source whose line of action is parallel to the line forming a pair of free articulations and (c) means for biassing the free articulations of each pair towards one another. As shown the device has four articulated arms 9', 9", a first articulation 10 fixed to a wall (5, not shown), a second articulation 8 being pivotally attached to the upper edge of a door, and two unattached articulations 17. The device is operated by a piston 12 sliding in cylinder 13, which incorporates a spring 14 which biasses the two articulations 17 towards one another, i.e. towards either the open or closed positions. In a further embodiment a pantograph having six articulated arms is shown.
