1279942 Knives; handles NIPPON TENSHASHI K K 7 May 1971 13743/71 Headings B4B and B4K A knife comprises a handle 1 having a body portion 3 and a cover plate 5, a blade 2 coupled to a slidable member 22 for advancing or retracting the blade relative to the handle and a screw 32 for rigidly maintaining a protruding end of the blade relative to the handle. The cover-plate 5 is secured to the body portion 3 at one end by projections 17, 18 and at the other end, by a screw 21. The slidable member 22 is provided with a spring 30 adapted to raise the cutting edge 31 away from a portion (16), Fig. 6 (not shown), of the cover plate 5. The blade is provided with weakened lines 36 so that a blunt portion of the blade can be broken off and, upon release of the screw 32, a fresh portion of the blade can be moved into position by the member 22.
