Abstract

1279852 Infusion needle assemblies DESERET PHARMACEUTICAL CO Inc 25 July 1969 [12 Sept 1968] 37545/69 Heading A5R An infusion needle assembly comprises a needle 60 secured to an inserter 20 comprising two body portions (36), (38) Figure 1 (not shown) disposed either side of a weakened portion 41, and two wing portions 22, 24, each body portion having a respective needle-receiving semi-cylindrical groove 50 or 52 with recesses 54, 56 in which adhesive is placed to secure the needle in the grooves after folding of the inserter about the portion 41 to bring an upstanding disc 30 on wing 22 into engagement in an aperture 32 in wing 24 to hold the wings in face-to-face contact. In an alternative embodiment, Figs. 7-11 (not shown), the aperture and disc on the wings are stepped to form an interlocking joint. Adhesives may additionally be used to hold the wings together. The inserter is preferably made of substantially stiff plastics material such as polyethylene or polypropylene.
