Abstract

1279851 Combination locks P BOUDIN J DE LAREBEYRETTE and M LIESSE 22 July 1969 [29 July 1968 5 Dec 1968] 36761/69 Heading E2A [Also in Division B8] A tube for obnoxious materials e.g. drugs, which are dangerous to children, is provided with a closure which can only be removed by performing a number of sequential operations. The closure may be fastened to the container by a simple translatory movement. A tube container has two tabs 4 and 5 (Fig. 1) with lugs 3a and 3b. The closure comprises two parts 6 and 11, part 6 having a ring 7 integral with it and provided with a gap 9. Part 11 constitutes a second ring with a gap 13 in it. The two parts of closure may be fastened to the tube by simply pressing them down over the end of the tube, deflecting the two tabs 4 and 5 in the process. To remove the closure the parts 11 and 6 must be rotated independently with each other until the lugs on parts 4 and 5 correspond with the notches 9 and 13 in the rings 7 and 12. The tap may then be lifted until lug 3a engages ring 12. A further rotation of ring 12 is then necessary to allow removal. The space at the bottom of the container closed by a simple slide top, may contain highly coloured harmless pills capable of staining the fingers thus indicating that the child has been playing with this type of container. In Figs. 5 and 6, a plug 31 slides into the top of the container. The plug is held in position by tab 35 engaging ring 41 between lugs 37 and stop 36. To remove the plug it must be rotated until stop 36 aligns with slot 41a the plug is then depressed thus deflecting the tab. The plug is then rotated until stop 36 aligns with stop 42, the plug then being slid out. Stop 42 keeps the tab 35 deflected preventing re-engagement with ring 41. In Fig. 7, the container top has a flange 48 with a groove 49, and a freely rotatable ring 52, having a groove 57 is mounted by means of a circlip below the flange. The cap 50 engages in the ring 52 by means of lugs 59 and tab 58. To remove the cap the ring 52 must be rotated so the grooves 57 line up with groove 49. Then the cap 50 must be further rotated so that the lug 59 lines up with the two grooves.
