1279635 Spreading implement C VAN DER LELY NV 4 Sept 1969 [9 Sept 1968] 43917/69 Heading AID A spreading implement comprises a main frame 4, a hopper 2, two rotary, bladed spreading members 36 and 56 and two corresponding agitators 51 (55), Fig. 1 (not shown), the diameter of the outlet portions 31, 32 of the hopper having a diameter not less than 20 cms whilst the spreading members are of an overall diameter that is not more than one-and-a-half times that of the outlet portions. The spreading members comprise a lower plate 36 and an upper annulus 39 between which the blades 40 are connected. The plate 36 has three holes 43 placed symmetrically about the centre. The side walls of the outlet portion 31 have two holes 34 and 35 as outlet ports, their sizes being adjustable by means of masking plates 73, 74 which are carried on a resilient metal strip 68 and are positioned by means of the lever 86. Either or both of the spreading members may be rendered inoperative by closing the ports and disconnecting the relevant pair of masking plates from the control lever 86. The agitators 51 and 55 are removably secured to the corresponding drive shafts 37 and 57 which are driven via a gearbox 58 from the power takeoff shaft of a tractor. The machine is arranged to be supported on the limbs 5 and 6 of the frame member 4 and on a foot 23 depending from the rear of the machine when not in use. The machine is attached to the lift linkage of a tractor by the pins 17, 16 and the brackets 9, 10 and the hopper is attached to the frame by means of the plates 13 and 26. Two masking members 62 and 63 are arranged over the spreading members at the front of the machine and the outlet ports are arranged in the adjacent faces of the outlet portions 31 and 32.
