1279257 Alkyd resin DR BECK & CO (INDIA) Ltd 8 April 1970 [9 April 1969] 18284/69 Heading C3R An alkyd resin is produced by treating a glycidyl ether or or a mixture thereof, with one or more saturated polycarboxylic acids or anhydrides thereof, the reaction being continued until the acid value falls to less than 25, preferably less than 12. The acid may be phthalic, isophthalic, terephthalic, adipic, succinic or hexahydrophthalic acid. One or more mono-glycerides and/or polyhydric alcohols, such as ethylene glycol, diethylene glycol, glycerol, pentaerythritol, propylene glycol and dipropylene glycol may be introduced into the reaction mixture.
