Abstract

1279135 Electric motors PLESSEY CO Ltd 11 May 1970 [13 May 1969] 24213/69 Heading H2A [Also in Division F1] In an electrically-driven pump unit comprising motor stator 1, Fig. 3, and rotor structure 4, the latter has a hollow frusto-conical portion 26 integrally formed with pump blades 13. The rotor includes magnetic laminations cast in aluminium and has axial conductor bars 10 joined to end portions 11, 12. The motor is an A.C. two-phase motor and its speed may be changed by changing the stator winding connections via a plug and socket arrangement 21, 22, or by altering the effective capacitance of capacitor 25. The stator and rotor structure may be arranged vertically in the unit housing as shown, or inclined to the vertical, Fig. 5 (not shown). The rotor may have weight-reducing recesses (27) at the peripheral region of its bladed portion.
