Abstract
1279116 Doctoring device INDUSTRIECOMPANIE KLEINWEFERS PLASTICMASCHINEN GmbH & CO KG 12 Sept 1969 [13 Sept 1968] 45065/69 Heading D1L During the coating of a moving web 12, a detector 9 senses the approach of a seam in the web before it reaches a doctor blade 5 and activates, through a time relay 28, an automatic means which raises the blade a limited height, and a means lowers the blade back into a preset position, defined by adjustable stops, a preset time after the raising of the blade: the automatic means can also be activated by a manually operable switch 35. As shown, two pistons with a rack therebetween in a pneumatic cylinder 6 activate a worm 7 and gear 8 to rotate the doctor blade 5 to a position 5", the worm being also manually operable by a handle 9. The adjustable stops comprise pins 22. Alternatively, Fig. 3 (not shown), the doctor may be lifted vertically and may comprise two blades mounted on a rotatable member so that either blade can be presented to the web. The vertical movement of the blade may activate a microswitch to thereby monitor the blades position.
