Abstract
1,137,333. Garage lifts. JOYCE-CRIDLAND CO. 27 June, 1967, No. 29484/67. Heading B8H. A vehicle lifting structure comprises a pair of horizontal vehicle supporting arms 20 pivotally connected to the outer portion of each of two bolster plates 10, 12 which are supported at their inner facing portions, on top of vertically movable powered rams. In the lowered position of the rams, the arms 20 are swung outwardly to give clearance for a vehicle being driven into position over the structure, ready for elevation. The arms 20 are then pivoted into position under the vehicle, whereby tiltable pads 24 mounted on structures 22 slidable along the arms 20, are positioned to engage the vehicle upon elevation of the rams. A lip 36 on the pivoted end of each arm engages a slot 34 in a plate 32 secured to each bolster plate. Stop pins 28 may be provided on the bolster plates to limit the inward swing of the arms 20. The movement of the rams is synchronized by a rack and pinion mechanism.
