Abstract

1278878 Resilient suspensions AKG AKUSTICHE U KINO-GERATE GmbH 30 Nov 1970 [3 Dec 1969] 56733/70 Heading F2S [Also in Division H4] An artificial reverberation system, typically employing a helical spring, forms a rigid unit which is suspended from a single suspension point by elastic means connected between the point and the centre of gravity of the unit or between the point and points in a horizontal plane passing through the centre of gravity of the unit. In Fig. 1 a pair of reverberation units 1 are rigidly connected by a rod 2 and the centre of gravity of the assembly 3 is connected to the support point 6 by spring 4 and nylon cord 7. In a modification a mass element may be included in the suspension, Fig. 2 (not shown). Fig. 4 shows a single reverberation unit suspended from point 6 through a nylon cord 7 and three springs 4a, 4b, 4c connected at their lower ends to arms 2a, 2b, 2c which define a horizontal plane passing through the centre of gravity of the unit. The intermediary member 5d may be disc or spider. In a modification each spring may be connected to the support point through a nylon cord, Fig. 3 (not shown). The natural frequency of oscillation of the suspending arrangement is lower than the natural frequency of the spring used in the reverberation system.
