Abstract

1278732 Brackets KABEL-UND METALLWERKE GUTEHOFFNUNGSHUTTE A G 13 March 1970 12150/70 Heading A4B [Also in Division E2] A mounting clamp for securing a waveguide of elliptical cross-section, comprises two clamping shells 1, 7 which complement one another to form an ellipse and embrace the waveguide, wherein a member 2 is connected to one of the shells 1, the member having a bow-like portion connected with the shell which is of larger size and extends beyond the outer periphery of the shell and which has a slot extending from the region of the least elliptical curvature to the region of the greatest elliptical curvature and in which is inserted, before the said shell is secured in position, a screw for the attachment of this shell. In the construction shown the strap is secured to the larger shell by loops 3 and 4 adjacent its end portions and one end portion is bent up to provide a lug 12 and the opposite end portion has a slot 5 which receives a loop 6 formed in the end portion of the smaller clamping shell so that the smaller shell is pivotally connected to the strap and hence to the larger shell. At its opposite end portion the smaller shell is provided with a lug 8 connected to it by a loop 9, the lug 8 having an aperture which receives a clamping screw 12 which engages a threaded hole in the lug 11 for clamping the shells on to the waveguide. The larger shell has a slot (not shown) in alignment with the slot 14 in the strap so that a screw driver blade can be passed through it to rotate the screw 13 by means of which the device is mounted on a support. A modified construction is described in which the member 2 is formed integrally with the larger shell and extends from one end of the shell; in this construction the lug 11 is attached to the shell instead of being a bent up portion of the strap and the pivotal connection between the two shells is also modified.
