1278674 Separating particles from gases; scrubbing gases E C HUNGATE 1 July 1969 33197/69 Headings B1R and BIT An eliminator for removing particles of liquid from a gas stream comprises a plurality of vertical zig-zag wall members such as 31 and 32 (Fig. 2), each having as shown in Fig. 4, planar portions such as 61, an off-set portion such as 64, a groove 66 and planar portions such as 62, the arrangement being such that a stream of separated liquid deflected by portion 64 is halted by a part of the gas stream whose direction of flow is reversed by the groove and allowed to run down the wall members. A following leg of a zig-zag wall member has grooves such as 68 and 69 (Fig. 5) and the last two legs are covered with urethane foam 73 interrupted by vertical grooves 74. The eliminator may be arranged to follow a washer in which the gas is sprayed with liquid.
