Abstract
1277513 Hank winding apparatus SHIMADZU SEISAKUSHO Ltd 9 Sept 1969 [14 Nov 1968 30 Nov 1968 (4) 15 March 1969] 44410/69 Heading D1J An intermittently driven turn-table A, Fig. 3, has a plurality of radial arms 5, each arm 5 carrying a hank winding reel 2. Each reel 2 has a retainer bar 10, Fig. 4, that holds the starting end of a thread T supplied by a cheese 23. Each reel 2 is driven by a motor 16. Associated with each reel is a guide bar 26 that rocks to a first setting to cause a first hank to be wound on the reel 2, said guide bar then rocking to a second setting to cause a second hank to be wound on the reel. A counter counts the revolutions of each reel and controls the guide bar 26 via electromagnetic means 29. As the hanks on a reel near completion the counter causes further electro-magnetic means 22 to cause a high speed roller 18, Fig. 8, to disengage, and a low speed roller 20 to engage, a disc 14 driving the reel 2 so as to slow the reel down. When the final revolution of a reel is about to commence the counter causes a further electro-magnetic device 28 to cause a nose 38 on a locking device F to move to a setting in which it can enter a recess 36 in the disc 14. This stops the reel 2 at a predetermined setting relative to a lacing device H, namely a setting in which the two ends of the wound thread T are aligned with the device H. Lacing device H. The lacing device H includes presser bars 50, 51 Figs. 10(e) that act on the left and right-hand hanks of a reel 2 to form a chevron shape in the hanks between two stays of a reel. A vortex-shaped needle 45 is then rotated anti-clockwise about an axis 44 so as to pass (1) behind the lefthand hank; (2) in front of the right-hand hank; (3) behind the right-hand hank; and (4) in front of the left-hand hank. At this stage a hook 52 on the needle 45 catches the starting end T1 of the thread. The needle 45 then rotates clockwise and thus pulls the starting end T1 in an 8-shape about the hanks as shown in Fig. 10(h). The thread leading to the cheese 23 is then cut and the resulting end T", together with the end T', are sucked down a tube 53 to a knotter I. Doffing. When a reel 2 reaches a doffing station J the arms 8 of the reel move inwardly to release the tension in the hanks. A receiving bar 57, Fig. 3, removes the hanks from the reel 2 and transfers them to a gathering unit 58 Fig. 1. Alarm device and stop motion. The guide bar 26 carries a detector switch that senses absence of the thread T once winding has started. Thread absence stops the motor rotating the reel or actuates an alarm device.
