Abstract

1277422 Hydropneumatic damped springs GIRLING Ltd 21 May 1969 [21 May 1968] 44652/71 Divided out of 1277421 Heading F2S The subject-matter of this Specification is substantially the same as that described in Specification 1277421 but the claim is concerned with a pneumatic piston-cylinder spring in which the cylinder contains liquid which can pass from one side of the piston to the other to damp the terminal portion of the piston stroke. The spring is mounted to rotate about a transverse horizontal axis between its illustrated position and an inverted position during extension and contraction. As the spring rotates the liquid passes from one side of the piston to the other and collects at the seal end of the cylinder to ensure damping of the terminal portion of the extension stroke. The terminal portion of the compression stroke may also be damped.
