Abstract

1277116 Soldering GRANGES ESSEM AB 4 Dec 1969 [23 Dec 1968] 59306/69 Heading B3R [Also in Division C7] Metal parts, e.g. tubes, to be soldered are coated with a non-corrosive flux containing a fatty substance, e.g. lanolin and a chlorinated paraffin hydrocarbon having at least 8 C atoms and a chlorine content of 10-73% weight. Preferred are chlorinated alkanes, e.g. heptachlorodecane. A preferred flux composition is 30-60% heptachlorodecane, at least 40% lanolin and #0À3% benzotriazole. The flux is applied as a solution in an organic solvent, e.g. trichloroethane and methanol or ethanol. Tube ends 10 and 11 are inserted into a sleeve 12 internally coated with the flux and preferably with solder in the grooves 13. Alternatively the solder may be applied separately from a rod.
