Abstract

1276939 Baking wafers BAKER PERKINS Ltd 14 May 1971 [28 May 1970] 25820/70 Heading A2A In an oven in which wafer plates 2, provided with lids, run on rollers 17 in a continuous circuit through the oven, passing a station at which they are filled with batter and the lids closed, and subsequently having the lids opened for discharge of the baked wafers, a temperature probe engages the moving plates to control oven heating in such a way as to maintain the plates at substantially constant temperature. An insulating block 12 pivotally mounted at 18 on an arm 13, itself pivoted at 22, carries a copper strip 10 which makes contact with the tops of the wafer plates and contains a thermocouple 11 the output from which is fed to a controller in which the measured temperature, indicated by a pointer, is compared with a set value and the difference used to control a servomotor which operates a valve to determine the amount of air, and thereby the amount of induced fuel gas, fed to the oven.
