Abstract

127,689. Soc. Anon. des Etablissements Delaunay-Belleville. Nov. 26, 1915, [Convention datel. Machine guns.-Relates to gas-operated guns in which the breech bolt is provided at the front end with guiding and locking lugs, and along its length with a helical path by means of which it is rotated and reciprocated by the rereciprocation within it of a striker connected to the gasoperated piston. According to the invention, (1) the striker 6, which is connected to the piston S by a post 7, has a wide-pitched helical thread in engagement with a corresponding groove in the breech-bolt 2; (2) the breech-bolt has three lugs 3<a>, 3<b>, 3<c> adapted to guide the bolt longitudinally by sliding in longitudinal slots 7<a>, 7<b>, 7<c>, and to lock the bolt by entering curved grooves 5<a>, 5<b>, 5<c>; and (3) a stop 52 is provided to take up the shock of the forwardly-moving bolt just before the locking action. In order to cause the bolt to rotate after the breech has been opened, to feed the cartridge belt as described in Specification 127,624, the lugs 3<a>, 3<b>, 3<c> are made to recoil beyond the longitudinal grooves 7<a>, 7<b>, 7<c>, and curved or grooved double weba are provided to rotate the bolt forwards and backwards while they are thus no longer constrained by the longitudinal grooves.
