Abstract
1276244 Electro-machining WISSENSCHAFTLICH-TECHNISCHES ZENTRUM GETRIEBE UND KUPPLUNGEN VEB 19 Jan 1970 2510/70 Heading C7B An electro-chemical machining unit comprises a workpiece 3 connected to a feed drive device 4 and an electrode 2 whose position is determined by links 7 controlled by a spring 8 opposed to a piston 11, which is movable in a cylinder 9 supplied with fluid at a pressure controlled by a trigger device 6 receiving a signal X representative of the working current and a reference signal W representative of a predetermined value of working current, the arrangement being such that the occurrence of a fault or breakdown in the unit causing the working current to exceed the predetermined value results in the device 6 reducing the pressure in the cylinder 9 to move the electrode 2 away from the workpiece 3. In a modification, Fig. 3 (not shown) the electrode 2 is carried by a member connected to the diaphragm in one wall of a chamber containing fluid, whose pressure is opposed by a spring mounted around the electrode 2 and is reduced by the device 6 under fault conditions.
