Abstract

1275852 Measuring force INDUVA INDUSTRIE-VERWALTUNGS G m b H [trading as LECHLER ELRING DICHTUNGSWERKE KG] 26 Aug 1970 [2 Sept 1969] 41026/70 Heading G1W The distribution and magnitude of pressure at the interface between two components 12 and 13 is determined by means of a stack of sheets inserted between the components, the stack comprising an originator sheet 16 carrying an indicator substance such as a dye and a plurality of acceptor sheets 17-22 of a material to accept the indicator substance. The pressure at any part of the interface is determined by determining the lowest acceptor sheet stained with the indicator substance. The stack may be calibrated with a device described, Fig. 5 (not shown), to determine the pressure required to produce staining of each sheet. Protective sheets 15 of plastics material may be provided at the top and/or bottom of the stack. Sheets 17-22 may be of thin paper or non-woven fabric.
