Abstract

1275163 Solvent dyeing FARBENFABRIKEN BAYER AG 19 Aug 1970 [20 Aug 1969] 39922/70 Heading D1B [Also in Division C4] Synthetic fibre materials of polyesters, polyamides, polyurethanes, polyolefins and cellulose triacetate are solvent dyed with anthraquinone dyestuffs of the general formula: wherein Hal is halogen, X is S, O or NH, Y is a single bond or an oxygen atom, m is 0, 1 or 2, n is 1, 2 or 3 and B is trifluoromethyl, or C 1 -C 12 alkyl, cycloalkyl, or aralkyl with the proviso that the sum of the carbon atoms in substituent or substituents B is 1 to 12. After impregnation with a solution of the dye in a solvent the fibre material is subjected to a heat treatment at 120-230‹C e.g. a dry heat treatment or a heat treatment in super heated solvent vapour. The solvents used which are preferably water-immiscible and have boiling points of 40-150‹C include tri- and tetrachloroethylene, 1, 1, 1-trichloroethane and 1, 1, 1-trichloropropane and the dyestuff may be dissolved in a first solvent e.g. an alcohol, dimethylformamide, dimethylacetamide, dimethylsulphonide or sulpholane before adding to the water-immiscible solvent. Orange, red and ruby shades are obtained.
