Abstract
1,274,471. Oxidation catalysts. BADISCHE ANILIN-& SODA-FABRIK A.G. 22 Aug., 1969 [23 Aug., 1968], No. 41892/69. Heading B1E. [Also in Division C2] V 2 O 5 catalyst is supported on granules, spheres pellets, cones, rings and stars of porcelain; aluminium, magnesium zinc or zirconium silicate; MgO; SiO 2 ; TiO 2 ; CeO 2 ; Al 2 O 3 , SiC or mixed with these substances and shaped. Zr, Li, Al, P, Sn, Cr, Mo, W, Ag, Mn, Fe, Co or Ni may also be present. Example 1 describes the preparation of an oxidation catalyst which comprises spraying 6-mm porcelain spheres with 400 g. of an aq. suspension containing 42.5g. of formamide, 18.7g. of oxalic acid 8.5g. of V 2 O 5 133g. of anatase and 1g. of NH 4 H 2 PO 4 , in a coating drum heated to 300‹C. After coating operation the catalyst is heated for two hours in a stream of air at 450‹C. A similar type of catalyst is also prepared in Example 2 using magnesium silicate spheres as support.
