Abstract

1286443 Oxidation catalysts FARBWERKE HOECHST AG 27 Jan 1970 [28 Jan 1969] 3927/70 Heading B1E [Also in Division C2C] A catalyst composition comprising a noble metal of the 8th sub group of the Mendeleef Periodic Table, elementary bismuth or a bismuth containing compound, an inert carrier material and optionally a salt of a metal of the first and second Periodic groups is used for the preparation of carboxylic acid allyl ester by the oxidation of propylene and a carboxylic acid. Ruthemium, rhodium, platinum, indium and preferably palladium are used and are applied to the carrier as salts, heated and reduced to the metal. The bismuth component is prepared in a similar way. Activated carbon, titanium dioxide and silicate, zirconium oxide, silicate and phosphate, alumina, aluminosilicates, silica carbide and silicic acid may be the carrier. One or more alkali metal salts are the optional components.
